This year, how are you going to look your best and impress everyone around you? No matter what season, there are some fashion dos and fashion don’t – but the warmer months have quite a few more than any other season.
Still, there are many people that just don’t know how to dress during the warmest months – or just when you will be moving around a lot. They are too hot, too cold, or just wear things that don’t flatter them. Many people need help with some fashion dos.
Here are just a few:
Natural Fibers are Better
Natural fibers will always be a better way to stay cool. Opt for cotton, linen, or even rayon to feel better in the sunshine. You’ll be able to get a breeze onto your skin and dry off if you do start to sweat.
Many of us believe that we look better in tighter clothing, but you might not when you will be warm, Looser clothing ensures that your clothing doesn’t cling to your sweat. Even better, it looks great tucked into a skirt or worn under a light blazer.
Shorts Need to Fit
Many people think that they don’t look good in shorts because they never buy a pair that fits them. You want to get shorts that are the correct size and fall at an appropriate length. When in doubt, go a little longer for more coverage.
Denim Is Still Fun
Many people disregard denim in the warm months because they think that it will be too hot – but it isn’t. You can wear denim in other ways – like as a light jacket over a sun dress, in a good shoe, or even as a belt for your favorite linen jeans. Trying to stay cool is all about rethinking the fabrics we know and love.
There is no time like a warm day to wear white. It shows off your tan and works perfectly to keep you cool. Aren’t ready to wear white? Throw on a pair of clean white sneakers and you will always be cute and comfortable.
The cold shoulders trend is one of the best ones to embrace in the warmth. It allows you to show off some skin, but not too much, and get some air to your body when it is just too hot.
Remember that you need to be comfortable no matter what temperature it is – but that doesn’t mean that you have to forsake all of your personal style.
Cleaning out your closet is a very difficult thing to do. Many of us feel like we can’t eliminate anything and that the second we donate something or throw it away, we will want it back. We know that it isn’t easy to get ride of something, especially if it has had sentimental value to you.
When it comes to cleaning out your closet, you have to go in with a mission.
Know what to Keep
There are some things that you want to keep in your closet for at least another six months after you have cleaned your closet out. If, after that time, you think that you don’t need or want it anymore, you can eliminate it.
Keep the Pieces That Mean Something: Your wedding dress or the coat you bought when you went to New York for the first time might be pieces that you should keep. Anything that is a piece that you can look at and feel something might be a piece that you keep.
Basics Aren’t So Basic: You want to keep your winter jacket, your high quality tank tops and tees, your favorite blazer, that well worn pair of jeans, and your favorite tennis shoes. These are the pieces you really reach for on a daily basis.
Trendy Items: Have something that is on trend now? You want to keep those so that you can feel stylish – you might eliminate them the next time you clean your closet out, but for now they still serve a purpose.
Investment Pieces: Have a great suit from a label? Or a necklace from a big name jewelry company? Keep those because they are huge investment pieces that might have higher value later on.
What to Eliminate
Now comes the harder part – just what do you eliminate from your wardrobe? Here are some things to think about donating:
Anything That Has Tags: If you haven’t worn it, you probably shouldn’t have bought it. Donate anything that you haven’t worn or sell it.
Stained Pieces: Whether it is your favorite t-shirt that is a little yellow around the neck or pants that have grass stains, you probably shouldn’t wear these anymore. Do not donate anything that is stained too heavily. You can try to repurpose it or throw it away.
Poor Quality Has to Go: Unless you really love something that is a knock-off or is poor quality, you do not need anything that isn’t good quality.
We know that it can be difficult, but don’t hoard your clothing.
We all have body parts that we love to show off and body parts that we don’t like. If you have something you like to show off, you want to flaunt it and highlight it. You can do this while hiding some of the parts of your body that you don’t want to show off.
However, the first thing that you want to do is figure out which part of your body you want to show off – we all have something different. Once you figure that out, you will be able to highlight it in a way that is effective.
If Your Favorite Body Part is Your Rear End…
You either really love your booty or you don’t like it. Many of us are learning to love our bigger backsides – and we love showing them off even more.
So how can you show off your rear end? The first way is to wear skinny jeans with a good pair of heels – you will get some lift on your rear end and some highlighting from the shape of the jeans. You might also want to wear pencil skirts or silky fabrics, as they tend to cling to your curves.
If Your Favorite Body Part is Your Shoulders…
If you believe that you have a great pair of shoulders, there are many ways to show them off – ways that aren’t just cold shoulder tops. In fact, there are some things you can wear that keep you covered and show them off.
You can wear anything sleeveless if you have strong arms with muscles to spare. You can wear sleeveless dresses, tank tops, and sweetheart dresses. If you want to be covered, you may also want to wear cap sleeves. This will highlight and draw attention to your shoulders.
If Your Favorite Body Part is Your Waist…
If you want to show off your waist, you want to draw eyes to the middle of your body. You can do this in many ways – once again, ways that cover you up and ways that do not.
Consider adding warp dresses to your wardrobe – they make almost all bodies look great. You can also wear pencil skirts with a belt in a popping color. Add empire waist dresses to your wardrobe as well.
No matter what part of your body you want to show off, there is something you can wear to highlight it. If you need more ideas, look throughout the rest of our website for tips.
